Fleece and Sweatshirts

Fleece and sweatshirts are the mid-layer of a corporate clothing plan. On their own they serve as the outer layer in spring and autumn, and in winter as an insulating layer under a jacket — this dual role makes the cost per piece more efficient than single-season products.

Fleece or knitted sweatshirt?

A knitted sweatshirt (brushed cotton-polyester) looks more corporate and takes embroidery more cleanly. It is preferred in heated indoor spaces and mild regions.

Fleece gives more insulation for the same thickness and releases moisture faster. It has the advantage at genuinely cold points such as cold store entrances, open loading docks and winter sites; in return it looks a touch sportier.

Choose the style by who the team deals with. Styles without a hood and with a half zip look more formal; they are preferred for staff who see customers, visitors and auditors. Hooded styles give field teams extra protection against wind and cold — but for staff working near machinery, the hood drawcord carries an entanglement risk, so a cordless model or a hoodless alternative is recommended.

The half zip has a functional advantage: the neck opening can be adjusted in steps without taking the garment off. For a team that goes out onto a cold site in the morning and warms up during the day, it means two temperatures in one product.

Quality is lost at the cuffs and the hem rib. With loose rib, warm air escapes from below and closing the zip becomes pointless. On zipped styles a chin guard at the top of the zip also matters; without one, staff do not zip it all the way up.

For the logo on this product group we recommend embroidery — print cracks over time on brushed and fleece surfaces.
