About Private Security Uniforms
A private security uniform is a product with no design freedom. Turkish Law No. 5188 on Private Security Services and the related regulation restrict the colour, design and markings of the uniform.
The basic rule is this: a private security uniform must not resemble the uniforms of the Turkish Armed Forces, the general police and other public bodies. This resemblance is judged not only by colour but also by design and motifs — epaulettes, rank-like insignia and emblems that evoke law enforcement cause problems.
The approval process is also defined. In organisations that set up their own in-house security unit, the uniform is subject to commission approval; for private security companies, to ministry approval. The approval process needs to be planned before production starts; a colour or design change made afterwards affects the entire order.
The company logo is mandatory on the uniform. In addition, staff on night duty and staff deployed at crowded events such as sports matches and concerts must wear a reflective vest with the words "ÖZEL GÜVENLİK" (private security) on the back.
In practice the uniform is planned as a set: trousers, shirt or T-shirt, jacket or parka, belt and, depending on the season, a vest. For a team that stands and patrols throughout the shift, a breathable fabric and freedom of movement in the trousers matter as much as appearance. Planning the summer and winter pieces together in the same set removes the need for a second procurement round at the change of season.
Mars Wear manufactures at its own production facility in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul, with its own design team, using patterns, colours and logos made for each organisation. Our minimum order is 100 pieces and our standard lead time is 15 working days; we ship within Türkiye and abroad. For details of the regulation, see our guide to the Law No. 5188 private security uniform regulation (in Turkish).
