What Is a Softshell Work Jacket?

Softshell is a fabric construction that combines a stretchy outer fabric with a middle layer that keeps out water and wind, and a soft surface on the inside. A softshell jacket is made from this fabric: flat and flexible, without the bulk of a puffer. It blocks the wind, keeps rain out and, because the fabric breathes, does not make staff sweat in active work.

A softshell work jacket is the corporate version of this jacket for field and office teams: the company logo is printed on, and the colour and model follow your corporate identity. At Mars Wear we do not sell the black softshell work jacket from stock; every order starts from a minimum of 100 pieces and is made at our own facility in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul, with a layout prepared by our own design team.

Waterproof and Windproof: What Does It Give You?

What chills field staff most in winter is often not the temperature but wind and wet. A fleece or sweatshirt that lets the wind through cools down within minutes outdoors, and wet fabric draws body heat away quickly.

A waterproof and windproof softshell jacket cuts both losses at once. With the stand collar and full-length zip closed, the wind does not reach the body; rain and drizzle stay on the outside of the fabric. That is why it is preferred at open, windy points such as site entrances, loading ramps, car parks and roadsides.

To be clear about one limit: work where a specification calls for an EN 343 class, or where staff work under heavy rain all day, needs a rainwear-class product. In that case the waterproof reflective work jacket is the right choice.

Who Wears It?

Construction and building sites — site engineers, site managers and technical teams working on the move in windy open areas. See construction and site workwear.

Logistics, warehouses and distribution — teams moving between ramps, vehicles and customer addresses. See logistics and warehouse workwear.

Private security — outdoor posts and patrols; black matches security uniforms. See security uniforms.

Factories, maintenance and technical service — maintenance and service staff moving between indoors and outdoors. See factory and production workwear.

Field sales, drivers and facility management — customer-facing teams who go out often during the day; here the flat, corporate look of a softshell jacket stands out.

Logo Application: Why Print, Not Embroidery?

On this product the logo is applied by printing; embroidery is not recommended. An embroidery needle punches holes in the fabric and weakens the layer that keeps out water and wind at those points. A print sits on the surface without piercing the fabric.

  • Left chest — the standard logo position; the chest pocket is on the other side, so the area is flat
  • Back — a wide, uninterrupted surface for a company name or a large logo
  • Sleeve — for a department or project name

Transfer / DTF printing gives a sharp result even with multi-colour logos. Our own design team sets the logo size and position and sends a digital mock-up for your approval before production. For a comparison of methods, see our logo printing and embroidery methods guide.

Model, Colour and Design Made for Your Company

The model pictured is black; a black softshell jacket shows the least dirt and is the background on which a white or single-colour logo reads most clearly. Model, colour and design can be changed for your company: a body in your corporate colour, shoulder or side panels in a different colour, pocket layout and sleeve details are agreed at the start of the order. For custom colours and designs, quantity and lead time are planned separately.

Softshell Jacket, Puffer Jacket or Fleece?

  • This product (softshell work jacket) — blocks wind and rain without bulk; on its own as the outer layer in the mid-season and on cool winter days.
  • Softshell gilet — the same fabric logic, sleeveless; for work where arm movement is critical.
  • Branded puffer jacket — padded and warmer; for days when cold, rather than wind, is the problem.
  • Printed fleece jacket — a soft mid layer for indoors and sheltered areas.
  • Winter work jacket — for teams who stay outdoors for long periods in harsh winter conditions.

In harsh winter a softshell jacket may not be enough on its own; a layering system is built by adding a thermal base layer or a fleece underneath. To plan the season as a whole, see our season changeover plan guide. All options are in the softshell workwear category.

Wholesale Softshell Jacket Prices

The price of a logo-printed softshell work jacket cannot be given from a single list; model, colour, printing method, number of logo positions and quantity are calculated together. The unit cost falls as quantity rises, because cutting and printing set-up is spread over more pieces.

Enter your quantity in the calculator on this page to see the average unit price from 100 pieces, and request a net price for your organisation with the "Request a quote for this product" button on the same screen. Colours and sizes can be split freely within the 100 pieces. The price structure is explained on our bulk logo workwear production from 100 pieces page.

  2. Design approval — our design team prepares the colour, model and logo placement on a digital mock-up.
  3. Sample — a physical sample is sent on request.
  4. Production — in our own facility; standard lead time 15 working days.
  5. Shipping — within Türkiye and abroad; boxes can be split by size and branch.

Care

  • Wash at 30 °C on a gentle cycle with the zips closed.
  • Do not use fabric softener; it weakens the fabric's water- and wind-blocking structure. Do not use bleach.
  • Do not dry at high heat; hang to dry.
  • Do not iron directly over the printed area.

For details, see our workwear care instructions page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the softshell work jacket waterproof?

Yes. It is made from waterproof and windproof softshell fabric; rain and drizzle stay on the outside. If a specification calls for an EN 343 class, or staff will work under heavy rain all day, we recommend a rainwear-class jacket.

Does it block the wind?

Yes. With the stand collar and full-length zip closed, the wind does not reach the body; this is what makes the difference on open, windy sites.

Why is embroidery not recommended?

An embroidery needle pierces the fabric and weakens the softshell's water- and wind-blocking layer at those points. The logo is printed; the fabric is not pierced.

Where is the logo applied?

The left chest is standard; a company name or large logo can be printed across the wide back area, and a department name on the sleeve.

Can the colour and model be changed?

Yes. The model pictured is black; model, colour and design can be changed for your company.

Is it enough on its own in winter?

It is enough in the mid-season and on cool winter days. In harsh winter, add a thermal base layer or a fleece underneath; for teams who stay outdoors for long periods, a winter work jacket is more suitable.

What are the minimum order and lead time?

The minimum order is 100 pieces; colours and sizes can be split within that quantity. The standard lead time is 15 working days after design approval.

Do you ship abroad?

Yes. Production takes place at our own facility in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul; we ship within Türkiye and abroad.
