Mid-Season Workwear

The longest period of the year is neither summer nor winter but the time in between. In spring and autumn it is too cold for a T-shirt alone and too mild for a winter jacket — and most corporate buying leaves exactly this range empty.

The mid-season has a problem of its own: the temperature changes during the day. A site that is 8 degrees in the morning reaches 20 degrees by midday. When one product has to do everything, staff are either cold in the morning or take it off at midday and leave it in the locker.

The products in this category target that range:

Half-zip sweatshirts and fleeces — the zip lets staff adjust their warmth without taking the garment off; the neck opening is adjustable in steps.

Softshell jackets — they block the wind and repel water without being bulky. In the mid-season they replace the jacket; in winter they become the mid-layer.

Padded gilets and body warmers — they keep the torso warm while leaving the arms free. For work that needs arm movement, they are the most practical product of the mid-season.

Jackets with a removable lining — two seasons in one product; with the lining out they are a mid-season jacket, with it in, a winter one.

The real advantage of mid-season products in corporate buying is how long they are used. Because they are worn not only in spring and autumn but also as a mid-layer in winter, they do not sit in the locker for most of the year; the cost per piece works out better than for a single-season product.
