When Is a Long-Sleeved Work Shirt Needed?

There is a range often overlooked in corporate clothing planning: the days when a short-sleeved T-shirt is too cold but a sweatshirt or jacket is too much. Much of spring and autumn, and almost the whole year in air-conditioned offices, falls into this range.

This gap is usually filled in one of two wrong ways. Either staff wear their own clothes over the short-sleeved T-shirt — and the team look breaks down; or sweatshirts are handed out — and this time the corporate look is lost and the garment is too warm on most days.

A long-sleeved polo solves both problems at once: the collar stays corporate, the arms are covered and the fabric stays thin. When planned together with the short-sleeved version of the same collar, the brand look does not change at all between seasons — the only difference is the sleeve.

Its second practical job is dealing with air conditioning. In indoor spaces such as offices, receptions and stores, the temperature is kept constant but the airflow hits the arms directly; the long-sleeved model removes this discomfort, which is why it is requested even in midsummer.

Long-Sleeved, Short-Sleeved or Sweatshirt?

  • Short-sleeved polo — the hot months and spaces without air conditioning. The same collar, the same fabric.
  • Long-sleeved polo (this product) — the change of season and air-conditioned interiors. Keeps the corporate look and stays thin.
  • Crew-neck sweatshirt — thicker and warmer; when the corporate look comes second.
  • Fleece work gilet — a mid layer over the long-sleeved polo that warms the torso.

The common corporate set-up is a two-season pair: two orders a year — one short-sleeved, one long-sleeved, both in the same corporate colour. For season planning, see our season changeover plan guide.

The Sleeve Logo: This Model's Advantage

On a short-sleeved T-shirt, the sleeve is a narrow, sloping area for a logo; the application often creases or distorts where the sleeve turns. On a long sleeve, the upper sleeve is a flat, wide surface.

This creates a real opportunity for corporate identity: the brand logo on the left chest, and a department name, job title or certification badge on the upper sleeve. In hotel, retail and technical service teams, this layout makes each person's role readable from a distance.

Embroidery looks very clean on the sleeve; because the fabric is flat and taut, the design does not distort. For a comparison of methods, see our articles Embroidery or print — a workwear logo guide and logo printing and embroidery methods.

Who Wears It?

Office towers, holding companies and tech offices — admin staff and call centres on heavily air-conditioned floors. In this group the product is worn for most of the year.

Hotel front office and guest relations — reception temperatures are constant all year round; the long-sleeved polo is the classic front-office standard.

Retail chains and stores — in-store temperatures are controlled; at the change of season, all branches get the same look with a single item.

Factory admin staff — quality control, planning, R&D and shift management; in workshops without air conditioning, from spring to autumn. See our factory and production workwear page.

Logistics and warehousing — the first item staff switch to when it starts to turn cool on open loading bays and in dispatch areas. There are details in our logistics and warehouse workwear category.

Technical service and field teams — staff who need to look corporate at the customer's door while keeping their arms covered.

Healthcare group admin teams — reception, imaging and patient admissions.

Fabric and Weight

Piqué (standard) — a textured surface and a corporate look. Our default choice for this product.

Single jersey — smooth and soft; gentler on the skin, with a more casual look.

Cotton-polyester blend — shrinks less, keeps its colour longer and needs little ironing. Practical for teams whose garments are washed often.

For weight, 180 g/m² is the right starting point for the mid-season. For late autumn and the start of winter, 200–220 g/m² is preferred; at this weight the garment is enough on its own for longer. Some shrinkage in the wash is normal with pure cotton — on a long sleeve especially, this is felt in the sleeve length; sizes are planned with this in mind. For details, see our work T-shirt weight guide and workwear fabric guide.

Colour and Corporate Identity

Our stock colour range covers dark (black, navy, anthracite, burgundy, dark green), light (white, cream, light grey, light blue), bright (red, orange, green) and classic (beige, tan, khaki) groups.

For orders that need an exact match to the corporate identity, custom colours are produced to a Pantone reference; the quantity and lead time are planned separately. For companies ordering the short- and long-sleeved models together, we recommend planning both products in the same production batch — so there is no difference in shade between the two items.

Size and Cut

XS – 5XL is the standard range; 6XL and above are made on a custom pattern. On the long-sleeved model, choosing the size is a little more sensitive than on the short-sleeved one: even if the chest measurement is right, the sleeve may be short. For large teams we recommend taking measurements rather than guessing.

A mixed size breakdown is handled in a single production run. You can use the workwear size chart page to plan the breakdown.

Custom Design and Production

We produce the garment for your company in terms of colour, collar and cuff detail, weight and logo placement. Our own design team plans the chest and sleeve placement together, adapts your corporate colours to the product and prepares a digital placement visual before the sample.

Production takes place at our own facility in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul; because pattern, cutting, sewing and logo application are under one roof, the revision process is short. We ship within Türkiye and abroad; for multi-branch companies, boxes can be split by size and location for distribution. For the process, see our custom uniform design page.

Order Quantity and Price

The minimum order is 100 — per product line, not per size. The colour and size mix can be arranged freely within this quantity.

Because the long-sleeved model needs more fabric and extra cuff sewing than the short-sleeved version in the same fabric, its unit price is slightly higher. The price is calculated from the fabric type, weight, logo method, number of application areas and quantity together.

You can see the current unit price by entering your quantity in the calculator on this page and request a quote with the “Request a quote for this product” button on the same screen. For companies planning the short- and long-sleeved models together, we work out a seasonal framework price — contact us through the quote form. For budget planning, see our workwear prices and cost guide, and for our minimum quantity structure, the bulk logo workwear production from 100 pieces page.

Care

Wash at 30–40 °C, with similar colours and inside out. Bleach should not be used.

On long-sleeved garments the cuffs are the part that wears most; washing inside out keeps the rib knit in shape. High-heat drying increases shrinkage in cotton and shortens the sleeves — drying in the shade is recommended. Do not iron directly over embroidery or print.

For details, see our workwear care instructions page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I order it at the same time as the short-sleeved polo?

Yes, and we recommend it. When we plan both in the same production batch, the colour shade is exactly the same; batches produced at different times may differ in shade.

Are the cuffs ribbed or plain?

In standard production the cuffs are rib knit — they sit at the wrist and keep air out. Plain cuffs are made on request.

Can a logo go on the upper sleeve?

Yes, and this is this model's clearest advantage. On a long sleeve, the upper sleeve is a flat, wide area; embroidery looks very clean there. The brand logo on the left chest and a department or job title on the sleeve is a common layout.

Is it worn in the summer months too?

It is — especially in indoor spaces such as air-conditioned offices, hotel front offices and stores. Because the airflow hits the arms directly in these settings, the long-sleeved model is requested all year round.

Can it replace a sweatshirt?

No, it is thinner. Its purpose is not to replace a sweatshirt but to fill the range before it. On colder days, a gilet or jacket is worn over this garment.

Does it shrink in the wash?

Some shrinkage is normal with pure cotton and is felt in the sleeve length on a long sleeve. The option with the least shrinkage is the cotton-polyester blend.

What is the minimum order?

100 pieces, and this quantity is per product line, not per size.

Do you ship abroad?

Yes. Production takes place at our own facility in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul; we ship within Türkiye and abroad.
