Product description

What Are Summer Work Trousers?

Summer work trousers are made from a lighter-woven fabric so that staff working outdoors in the hot season can manage the heat. The fabric Mars Wear uses for summer production is 16/12 gabardine, 100% cotton; it is noticeably lighter and more breathable than the 7/7 gabardine in our winter production.

We produce them at our own facility in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul, with a pattern and logo specific to your organisation, from a minimum of 100 pieces, and ship within Türkiye and abroad.

The Real Issue in Summer Trousers: How Long Does the Fabric Last?

In summer trousers, lightness is easy; keeping lightness together with durability is hard. If a thinner fabric does not do the same job, it is replaced mid-season, and an order that looked cheap ends up expensive.

Two things keep this product going, and neither is the fabric — they are stitching and pattern:

Bar-tack reinforcement. Work trousers usually do not tear in the middle of the fabric; they open at the corners of pocket openings, at the base of belt loops and at the crotch — the points where load concentrates. We bar-tack these three areas. In summer fabric this is even more critical, because the tolerance that comes from fabric thickness is reduced.

Number of belt loops. We work with 7 loops. The fewer the loops, the fewer points the belt load falls on; full pockets and tools on the belt eventually bring a small number of loops to the point of tearing out.

Pocket Layout

Our standard layout has 5 pockets, each for a specific job:

  • 2 front pockets — deep cut, within easy reach
  • 1 rule pocket — a separate compartment inside the right front pocket; for measuring tools, a knife and a pen. Keeping them out of the main pocket means the tool comes out of the same place every time
  • 1 back pocket — with or without a flap
  • 1 thigh pocket — on the left thigh, with a flap and zip; for a phone, papers and small tools

If your team carries more tools, we add pockets; if not, fewer pockets bring gains in both coolness and cost. For teams carrying more tools, see the cargo work trousers layout.

Reflective Hem Tape

A cotton-backed reflective strip at the hem is standard. Let us be clear about what it is and what it isn't:

  • What it does: makes staff's leg movement noticeable at dusk and at night in headlights. A moving light source is seen much earlier than a static one.
  • What it doesn't do: it does not provide daytime visibility and does not put these trousers into a high-visibility clothing class. There is no fluorescent background fabric.

If your team is directly exposed to traffic or plant, you need the summer reflective work trousers with a fluorescent background. For the class thresholds, see our EN ISO 20471 guide.

Colour Options

Standard production is navy. We also work in black, anthracite, grey, khaki, tan, beige, brown, mustard, dark green, blue and burgundy.

On a summer site, colour choice is also a comfort decision: dark shades heat up more in the sun, light shades show stains. For jobs on dusty and earthy ground, khaki and tan are a good middle ground for both heat and stains.

If you have a corporate colour, our own design team matches the shade to your existing uniform.

Which Teams Are They For?

  • Construction — the summer months are the sector's busiest period
  • Factory yard and perimeter teams
  • Logistics open ramps — dispatch and loading teams
  • Road and infrastructure maintenance — asphalt, road markings, network repairs
  • Municipal services companies — street sweeping, refuse collection, parks and gardens
  • Technical service and field engineering
  • Workshop, carpentry and plumbing teams — the rule pocket was designed for these teams

Logo Application

The most common positions are the side of the thigh and the back waist. On the summer model we avoid large transfer prints — a print covers the fabric's breathable surface; for teams working in the heat, a small embroidery gives a better result.

For a comparison of methods, see our logo printing and embroidery guide. If you do not have a ready logo, our own design team prepares the version to be used on the uniform.

Ordering and Production Process

  1. Needs discussion — team size, size breakdown, working environment and equipment carried.
  2. Design decision — colour, number and placement of pockets, reflective hem tape, knee reinforcement.
  3. Sample — pattern and fabric approval with a physical sample.
  4. Design approval — the logo position and technique go to cutting with your written approval.
  5. Production — standard delivery 15 working days.
  6. Shipping — within Türkiye and abroad, delivered to multiple sites.

Our minimum order is 100. For the size breakdown, see the workwear size chart; for fabric options, see our fabric guide.

Care

  • Wash at 40 °C, inside out, with zips and buttons closed.
  • Empty the pockets before washing; a bit left in the rule pocket will pierce the fabric in the drum.
  • If there is reflective hem tape, do not use fabric softener and do not iron over the strip.
  • Pre-treat oil and soil stains before washing.
  • Check the bar-tack stitching periodically; if stitching that has started to come undone is repaired early, the garment is saved.

For details, see our workwear care guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between 16/12 and 7/7 gabardine? Both are 100% cotton gabardine; 16/12 is our summer weave and 7/7 our winter weave. The summer one is noticeably lighter and more breathable. You will see the difference in your hands on a sample — a more reliable way than describing it.

What is a rule pocket? A separate compartment inside the right front pocket. A measuring tool, knife or pen stays here; it does not get lost in the main pocket and comes out of the same place every time.

What does bar-tacking do? It is reinforcement stitching at the points where load concentrates, such as pocket opening corners, the base of belt loops and the crotch. Work trousers usually open at these points.

Does the reflective hem tape make these trousers hi-vis? No. It contributes to night-time visibility but does not provide daytime visibility. Teams exposed to traffic need a model with a fluorescent background.

Can the number of pockets be changed? Yes. We increase or reduce them according to the equipment carried; fewer pockets bring comfort in the heat and a cost saving.

Do you produce a women's pattern? Yes, women's and men's patterns are developed separately. Size range XS–5XL, with larger special sizes.

Is there a winter version? Yes. We make the same design in a winter fabric; practical for organisations that want to run two seasons from one pattern.

What is your minimum order? 100 pieces.

Do you ship abroad? Yes, we ship within Türkiye and abroad.
