What Is a Reflective Rain Suit?

A reflective rain suit is workwear that plans a hooded rain jacket and rain trousers together for staff working outdoors in the rain. The fluorescent background makes the wearer visible from a distance by day and at dusk, and the reflective tape does the same in vehicle headlights at night. It combines fabric that keeps the rain out with visibility in a single set.

Oxford is a tightly woven polyester fabric; when used for rainwear, a waterproof coating is applied to its inner face. This makes it more durable than thin nylon rainwear: it lasts longer against abrasion and tearing in field work and is worn again and again through the season.

At Mars Wear we make the reflective Oxford rain suit for your company, from a minimum of 100 sets, at our own facility in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul. Colour, model and logo are agreed with you at the start of the order, with a layout prepared by our own design team.

Two Models: Long Rain Coat or Short Jacket?

Long model (fluorescent yellow) — a knee-length rain coat that also covers the top of the trousers. For work where staff stand in the rain for long periods: traffic control, car parks, security posts, ports and stations.

Short jacket model (fluorescent orange) — a hip-length jacket with elasticated cuffs and a back yoke. For mobile teams who bend, get in and out of vehicles and move around: road maintenance, utilities, municipal field teams, cargo and distribution.

Colour and model are agreed together at the start of the order; yellow or orange is chosen to match your corporate identity or the visibility rule on site.

Reflective Tape and Visibility

Visibility comes from two different materials: the fluorescent background fabric by day, and reflective tape that returns headlight beams to their source at night. On this suit the two body bands make the wearer visible from the front and back, the sleeve bands with arm movement, and the leg bands while walking. Because visibility already drops in the rain, this layout matters even more at the roadside and in vehicle traffic.

To be clear about certification: high-visibility and rain protection classes (EN ISO 20471, EN 343) are awarded to a specific tested product. If certified PPE is mandatory at your workplace or in your specification, say so at the start of the project; fabric, tape and the certification route are set up accordingly. For details of the classes, see our EN ISO 20471 reflective classes guide.

Who Wears It?

Municipal and utility teams — cleaning, parks, water and sewerage teams; staff who stay out in the rain.

Construction and building sites — outdoor work that continues in wet weather. See construction and site workwear.

Logistics, cargo and distribution — teams working in the rain between open ramps, vehicles and delivery addresses. See logistics and warehouse workwear.

Road maintenance, car parks and traffic — staff close to vehicle traffic who must be visible at night and in the rain.

Security, ports and stations — staff at outdoor posts who stay in the rain for long periods.

Logo Application

On this product the logo is applied by printing; embroidery is not recommended. An embroidery needle pierces the fabric's waterproof coating and lets rain in at those points. A print sits on the surface without piercing the fabric.

  • Left chest — the standard logo position, on the flat area above the reflective bands
  • Back — the wide area between or above the bands; for a company or department name

The logo must not run onto the reflective tape; if it does, the reflective surface is reduced. Our own design team positions the logo around the bands and sends a digital mock-up for your approval before production. For a comparison of methods, see our logo printing and embroidery methods guide.

Care

  • Wash at 30 °C on a gentle cycle with the snaps closed.
  • Do not use fabric softener or bleach; they weaken the coating and the brightness of the reflective tape.
  • Do not tumble dry; hang to dry.
  • Do not iron over the reflective tape or print.

For details, see our workwear care instructions page.
