Waterproof Rain Trousers
Waterproof overtrousers pulled on over work trousers. They go on when the rain starts and come off when it stops — this flexibility is their real function.
Mars Wear produces them at its own facility in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul, with a pattern and logo specific to your organisation, from a minimum of 100 pieces; standard delivery is 15 working days.
Look at the Second Digit in EN 343
EN 343, the standard for protective clothing against rain, gives two digits, and most buyers only look at the first.
- First digit — waterproofing class (1–4). Class 1 at least ≈8,000 Pa, Class 4 at least ≈30,000 Pa.
- Second digit — breathability class (Ret, 1–4). Here too, higher is better; Class 1 means low breathability and Class 4 high.
The practical consequence: trousers bought on the first digit alone keep the rain out perfectly, but sweat builds up inside. Staff who walk and do physical work get wet after a few hours from the inside, not the outside, and take the trousers off.
For active work, the second digit matters at least as much as the first. For teams who wait at a fixed point (inspection, security, traffic direction), the first digit comes first.
These trousers are not EN 343 certified; a certificate is issued by a notified body for a specific tested product. If your specification requires certified PPE, say so at the start of the project.
Side Zips: Putting Them On Without Taking Shoes Off
This is the most common practical problem on site. The rain starts, and to put on rain trousers staff have to take off their safety boots — on muddy ground, in the rain. The result: they don't put them on.
The solution is a side zip running from the hem to the waist. The trousers go on over the boots, and shoes stay on. Being able to put them on and take them off easily between short showers is the one detail that decides whether the product is actually used.
Cheap rain trousers without this detail stay in the vehicle after they are handed out.
The Hem Must Go Over the Boot
A second practical rule: the hem of rain trousers is not tucked into the boot; it goes over it.
If the hem is tucked in, water running down the trousers goes straight into the boot — the trousers stay dry and the foot gets soaked. With the hem outside the boot, water runs down the outside of the boot.
The same logic applies to welding work, where the same funnel effect is created for sparks. When planned together with safety boots or wellingtons, the hem length is set accordingly.
Trousers Alone or With a Long Top?
The weak point of rain trousers is the waist. When staff bend over, the rain jacket above rides up, a gap opens at the waist and water runs down the back.
- Rain trousers — light rain, short exposure, frequent on and off. Carried as a spare in the vehicle.
- Rain trousers + a long-cut top — constant, heavy rain. The work coat and parka comes down to the hip or thigh and covers the waist and hip area.
If your team stays in the rain for hours, trousers with a long-cut top; if they get caught in the odd shower, trousers.
Seam Taping
Waterproof fabric alone is not enough — stitch holes let water through. In a quality product the seams are taped on the inside; in an untaped product, even if the fabric keeps water out, water leaks through the leg seams. This is the most decisive yet least visible difference between cheap and expensive rainwear.
Which Teams Are They For?
- Road and infrastructure maintenance — work carried out whatever the weather
- Construction — the rainy season
- Logistics and open ramps — teams caught in the rain during dispatch
- Parcel delivery and last mile
- Municipal field teams
- Agriculture and landscaping
Frequently Ordered Together
- Waterproof Reflective Work Jacket — the top half; if top and bottom are not bought together, the waist stays exposed
- 5-in-1 Work Jacket — if fluorescent visibility is also needed
- Reflective Oxford Rain Suit — jacket and trousers in one set; fluorescent background and reflective tape
- Work Coat and Parka — constant rain; long cut
- Emergency Poncho — a spare in the vehicle
The waterproof jackets are in the water-repellent and waterproof workwear category.
Ordering and Care
Our minimum order is 100; shipping within Türkiye and abroad. Because they are worn over work trousers, the pattern is made slightly roomier.
- Do not use fabric softener — it damages the water-repellent finish on the surface.
- Do not tumble dry; taped seams can separate in heat.
- Store hanging rather than folded; fold lines crack the coating over time.
- When leaks start, check the seam tapes first — the fault usually starts there, not in the fabric.
Frequently Asked Questions
They keep the rain out but we still get wet inside — why? Because the breathability class is low. Sweat vapour cannot get out and condenses inside.
Should we tuck the hem into the boot? No. The hem must go over the boot; if it is tucked in, water running off the trousers goes straight into the boot.
Can they be put on without taking shoes off? With side zips, yes. This detail is the one thing that decides whether the product is actually used on site.
Are trousers enough on their own? If you get caught in the odd shower, yes; if you stay in the rain for hours, plan the trousers together with a long-cut top — the long cut covers the waist and hip area.
What is your minimum order? 100 pieces.
