What Is a Reflective Work Jacket?
A reflective work jacket is outerwear that uses retroreflective tape on a dark body to make the wearer visible in low light and at night. This model is made with a navy body and silver reflective tape across the chest, sleeves and waist; it is hooded and has a waterproof outer fabric.
The dark colour brings two advantages: dirt and oil stains show far less than on hi-vis fabric, and the corporate look is kept. On the other hand, daytime visibility is not as high as on a hi-vis garment with a fluorescent background — we explain this distinction clearly below.
At Mars Wear we make this jacket at our own production facility. Colour, reflective layout, lining thickness, hood construction and logo application are decided for your organisation. Our minimum order is 100 pieces; we ship within Türkiye and abroad.
A Reflective Jacket Is Not the Same as a Certified Hi-Vis Garment
This is the most commonly confused point on site, and it is the key to choosing the right product:
- Reflective jacket (this product): A dark body + retroreflective tape. It gives high visibility at night, under vehicle headlights. Daytime visibility is at the level of an ordinary work jacket.
- Certified high-visibility garment (EN ISO 20471): The standard does not only require reflective tape; it also requires fluorescent (hi-vis yellow/orange) background material over a set area. Adding tape to a dark body does not meet this classification.
Rule of thumb: If your work area is open to vehicle traffic, is at the roadside or on a motorway, or your health and safety rules require a specific visibility class, you need a product with a fluorescent background:
- Reflective Hi-Vis Safety Vest — the basic solution that can be worn over a jacket
- Reflective Engineer's Hi-Vis Vest — with pockets, for site staff
If night-time visibility is enough and a dark corporate colour is wanted, this jacket is the right choice. We clarify together before ordering which site needs which.

Waterproofing and Use on Wet Sites
For a team working in the rain, two separate properties matter:
- Water repellency: The fabric surface holds water as beads and sheds it. Enough for short showers and spray.
- Waterproofing: The fabric itself does not let water through; it protects in prolonged rain. Taped seams keep that protection going across the whole body.
If you tell us how long your team stays outdoors in the rain, we will recommend the fabric and seam construction to match. If you are only looking for a light top layer against rain, our rain vest or emergency poncho models may be more cost-effective.
Which Jacket for Which Job?
- This jacket (reflective, waterproof): When wet weather and night-time visibility are both needed.
- Winter Work Jacket: When rain and night visibility are not a priority; more economical for everyday corporate winter use.
- Work Coat and Parka: A longer cut and higher insulation for teams who stay outdoors for long periods.
- Printed Fleece Jacket: Mid-season wear and an indoor mid layer.
- New-Style Security Jacket: For staff subject to a security uniform arrangement.
Areas of Use
- Construction sites: Excavation, formwork and inspection work that carries on in wet weather; on night shifts the reflective tape is decisive.
- Road and infrastructure maintenance: Where work is carried out in sections open to vehicle traffic, it should be worn together with a product with a fluorescent background.
- Logistics and outdoor loading bays: Loading and unloading in the rain; night-time visibility amid forklift traffic.
- Parcel, courier and last-mile delivery: The hood and waterproof construction matter for teams outdoors all day.
- Municipal and parks teams: Outdoor maintenance and cleaning teams in the winter months.
- Fuel stations: Forecourt service that carries on in the rain.
- Factory outdoor areas and maintenance teams: You will find the full set in our factory and production workwear category.
- Warehouse and dispatch: Take a look at the logistics and warehouse workwear page.
Colour, Logo and Custom Design
Standard production is a navy body + silver reflective tape. Black, anthracite and two-tone combinations are also produced; if your corporate colour is different, we can set the body colour to match.
For the logo, the left chest is the most common choice; the back offers a wide area for the company name and department. If we apply the back lettering in reflective material, recognisability at night increases too. Our own design team prepares the placement and presents it for your approval before production — for a comparison of methods, see our logo printing and embroidery guide.
Sizes and Fit
The jacket is cut wider than standard so that a fleece or sweatshirt can be worn underneath. It is produced in XS–5XL, in men's and women's patterns; we make special sizes when larger sizes are needed. For detailed measurements, see our workwear size chart guide.

Care
The jacket should be washed on a 30 °C gentle cycle, inside out. Fabric softener should not be used — it reduces both the fabric's water repellency and the brightness of the reflective tape. Natural drying is recommended; the iron should not come into direct contact with the reflective tape. Water repellency fades over time; a periodic water-repellent care spray extends its life. For details, see our workwear care guide page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this jacket a certified EN ISO 20471 high-visibility garment?
No. This jacket gives night-time visibility through reflective tape on a dark body. The EN ISO 20471 classification also requires fluorescent (hi-vis yellow/orange) background material. If certified high visibility is needed, we recommend our hi-vis safety vest or engineer's vest models with a fluorescent background; they can also be worn together with this jacket.
Is the jacket really waterproof?
The outer fabric is waterproof / water repellent. To keep protection going in prolonged rain we recommend taped seams; we decide on the right construction together, based on how long your team stays out in the rain.
Is the hood detachable?
In standard production the hood stows away in the collar; a detachable hood is made on request.
Is it made in colours other than navy?
Yes. We produce black, anthracite and two-tone combinations, and can work to your corporate colour.
Can the company name go on the back?
Yes. If we apply the back lettering in reflective material, recognisability at night increases too.
Do you produce a women's pattern?
Yes. The jacket is produced in men's and women's patterns, in XS–5XL.
What is the minimum order?
100 pieces. As the quantity rises, the unit price falls in tiers.
Do you produce and ship abroad?
Yes. We ship from our own production facility within Türkiye and abroad.
