Product description
What Are a Work Coat and Parka?
A work coat or parka is outerwear that is cut longer than a winter work jacket and has higher insulation. The difference is the length: a jacket ends at the waist or hip, while a coat or parka comes down to the hip or thigh. For teams who work seated, stand outdoors for long periods or are constantly exposed to wind, covering the lower back and hips noticeably reduces heat loss.
A waterproof and windproof outer fabric, a padded lining, a detachable hood and adjustable cuffs are the standard configuration.
At Mars Wear we make the coat and parka at our own production facility. Length, fill thickness, hood construction, pocket layout, colour, reflective tape and logo application are decided for your organisation. Our minimum order is 100 pieces; we ship within Türkiye and abroad.
Jacket or Coat/Parka? The Rule of Thumb
This choice directly affects the budget and comfort on site:
- Winter Work Jacket: Waist/hip length, medium fill. For teams who get in and out of vehicles during the day and move between indoor and outdoor areas. High freedom of movement.
- Coat / parka (this product): Long cut, high fill. For teams who stay outdoors for long periods, stand at a fixed point or work on windy sites.
- Printed Fleece Jacket: Mid-season wear and an indoor mid layer.
Practical test: If your team spends more than half the shift outdoors, a coat/parka; if they move in and out, a jacket is the better and more economical choice. Most organisations buy both: parkas for field staff, jackets for admin staff.

Fill, Waterproofing and Layering
Three factors decide performance in a harsh winter:
- Fill thickness: Set by how cold it is and how long staff stay out. Teams standing at a fixed point (gates, car parks, site checkpoints) need more fill because they are not moving.
- Waterproofing and seam construction: Taped seams matter as much as the fabric itself; they are what keep protection going in prolonged rain.
- Layering: A parka does not work alone but together with the layer worn underneath. Two layers built with a sweatshirt or a fleece work gilet are a more flexible solution than a single thick parka — a layer comes off as the temperature changes.
If you tell us the temperature range your team works in and how long they stay outdoors, we will recommend the fill and fabric construction to match.
Colour: Dark Corporate or Hi-Vis?
- Dark corporate shades (black, navy, anthracite, khaki): Do not show stains and keep a corporate look. Common for security, logistics and facility staff. Reflective tape is added if needed.
- Hi-vis configuration (fluorescent yellow/orange body + reflective): Needed in areas open to vehicle traffic and on sites where visibility is defined by regulations.
An important distinction: Adding reflective tape to a dark body gives night-time visibility but does not make it a certified high-visibility garment — the EN ISO 20471 classification also requires fluorescent background material over a set area. If your site is subject to regulations, you should choose the fluorescent configuration or have staff wear a reflective hi-vis safety vest over the dark parka. We clarify together before ordering which is needed.
Areas of Use
- Construction sites: Outdoor operations in the winter months; with a hi-vis configuration in sections open to traffic.
- Roads, infrastructure and energy sites: Prolonged outdoor work; the hood and long cut are decisive in the wind.
- Cold stores and food logistics: For teams working at constant low temperatures, we recommend the highest-fill configuration. Take a look at the logistics and warehouse workwear page.
- Factory outdoor areas and perimeter security: Staff standing at gates, car parks and patrol points. See our factory and production workwear category.
- Security staff: Outdoor posts; for staff subject to a uniform arrangement, our new-style security jacket may be more suitable.
- Municipal, parks and cleansing teams: Outdoor work that carries on in snow and rain.
- Events and organisation: Field teams at outdoor events in the winter season.
Logo and Custom Design
The wide back of a coat or parka is the best surface for a company name and department lettering; left chest embroidery is the corporate standard. If we apply the back lettering in reflective material, recognisability at night increases too.
Our own design team plans the logo size, placement and its relationship with the reflective tape, and presents them for your approval before production. For a comparison of methods, see our logo printing and embroidery guide, and for fabric options, our fabric guide.
Sizes and Fit
The parka is cut noticeably wider than standard so that a sweatshirt and fleece can be worn underneath. It is produced in XS–5XL, in men's and women's patterns; we make special sizes when larger sizes are needed. Simply share the size breakdown on the order form — for detailed measurements, see our workwear size chart guide.
Quantity, Pricing and Lead Time
We do not sell the coat and parka from stock; we produce every order for your organisation.
- You send us your requirements: quantity, colour, fill thickness, hood and reflective preferences, size breakdown and logo details.
- Our design team prepares the logo and reflective placement and presents them for your approval.
- If you wish, we make a physical sample before production.
- After approval, production starts at our own facility — 15 working days.
- Shipping is within Türkiye and abroad, with the option of distribution to multiple locations.
- Minimum order: 100 pieces
- Price: The unit price falls in tiers as the quantity rises — an advantage of about 12% at 500 pieces, 18% at 1,000 and up to 25% at 2,500 pieces and above. You can see the average unit price for your quantity in the calculator on this page.
- What affects the price: fill thickness, the fabric's waterproof construction, hood and faux-fur detail, length of reflective tape, logo area.
- The net price comes with your quote — get a quick quote. We can work on an annual framework for planned production at the start of the season.
Care
The parka should be washed on a 30 °C gentle cycle, and fabric softener should not be used — it reduces both the fill's ability to trap air and the fabric's water repellency. To stop the fill clumping, tumble dry on low heat with a few dryer balls; alternatively, dry naturally on a flat surface. Water repellency fades over time; a periodic care spray extends its life. For details, see our workwear care guide page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I buy a coat/parka or a winter work jacket?
If your team spends more than half the shift outdoors, a coat/parka; if they move in and out, a winter work jacket is more suitable and more economical. Many organisations buy parkas for field staff and jackets for admin staff.
Is the hood detachable?
Yes, in standard production the hood is detachable. A faux-fur trimmed collar is added on request.
Is it suitable for cold stores?
Yes, but for work at constant low temperatures we recommend the highest-fill configuration — with little movement, the body produces less heat. If you tell us your working temperature, we decide the right fill together.
Do you make a hi-vis (fluorescent) version?
Yes. We make a fluorescent configuration for sites open to vehicle traffic. Adding only reflective tape to a dark parka does not amount to certified visibility; we clarify this distinction before ordering.
Can reflective tape be added?
Yes — sleeve, chest and back tape is applied on request.
Do you produce a women's pattern?
Yes. It is produced in men's and women's patterns, in XS–5XL.
What is the minimum order?
100 pieces. As the quantity rises, the unit price falls in tiers.
Do you produce and ship abroad?
Yes. We ship from our own production facility within Türkiye and abroad.
