What Is a Half-Zip Sweatshirt?
A half-zip sweatshirt is a stand-collar sweatshirt with a closed front and a short zip running from the collar to the middle of the chest. It is also known as a quarter-zip or 1/4 zip sweatshirt. With the zip closed, the stand collar covers the neck; opened, body heat escapes and staff cool down without taking the garment off.
It covers the most overlooked need of the mid-season: not cold enough for a jacket, not mild enough to stand around in a T-shirt. Thanks to the zip, one garment adjusts to two different temperatures during the day.
A branded half-zip sweatshirt is the same product made in your corporate colour with your company logo embroidered on it. Mars Wear produces it at its own facility in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul, with its own design team, in your company colour, pattern and logo from a minimum of 100 pieces; standard delivery is 15 working days, shipping within Türkiye and abroad.
Why a Half Zip? Temperature Control
In corporate buying, what sets the half zip apart is not its look but its function.
In a closed sweatshirt, body heat cannot escape at the neck. When staff warm up, their only option is to take the garment off completely — and the moment they do, they get cold because their back is sweaty.
A half zip adjusts the opening at the neck in stages:
- Closed — the stand collar covers the neck and chest and blocks the wind
- Half open — body heat escapes at the neck; you cool down without taking the garment off
- Fully open — a polo-collar look, for indoor temperatures
For a team that goes out onto a cold site in the morning and warms up during the day, this single feature takes the place of buying two separate products.
Who Is It For: Staff Between Office and Field
The real target of this product is roles that are both in the office and in the field during the day.
A standard sweatshirt looks sporty and is out of place in a meeting. A classic shirt, on the other hand, is impractical in the field. The half-zip model holds a level of formality between the two: collared and neat, but it does not restrict movement.
- Site managers and project leads — the construction site in the morning, meetings in the afternoon
- Technical service and sales engineers — staff who enter customers' premises
- Dealer and field sales representatives
- Warehouse and logistics shift supervisors
- Hotel, facility and estate management
- Factory office staff — engineers and planners who go in and out of the production area
If one product is to be bought for the whole workforce, this is the top that serves the widest group throughout the mid-season.
Fabric: Brushed Sweatshirt or Fleece?
We work with two different constructions, and the choice depends on indoor temperature.
Cotton-polyester knit (brushed back). The classic sweatshirt construction with a brushed inside. It looks more corporate and embroidery sits more cleanly on it. Preferred in heated indoor areas and mild regions.
Micro fleece. For teams that want a half-zip fleece. Gives more insulation at the same thickness and releases moisture faster. Preferred in genuinely cold spots such as cold store entrances, open ramps and winter sites. In return, it looks a touch more sporty.
A knit with a high cotton content is more comfortable but slow to dry when wet; a construction with a high polyester content keeps its shape and colour longer. For large workforces, where colour fastness through frequent washing is decisive, we recommend a blend. For fabric options, see our workwear fabric guide.
Colours
Three colours are pictured:
- Anthracite — shows the least dirt and looks equally neat in the office and in the field
- Black — the background on which a white or single-colour embroidered logo reads most clearly
- Navy — the classic corporate colour for office, sales and technical service staff
It can also be made in another colour that matches your corporate identity; for custom colours, quantity and lead time are planned separately.
Its Place in the Layering System
A half-zip sweatshirt is not a winter product on its own; it is a mid layer.
- Mid-season (autumn/spring) — on its own as the outer layer
- Winter — as a mid layer under a branded padded gilet or a winter work jacket
- Harsh winter — thermal base layer + half-zip top + waterproof outer layer
Planning three layers together is both warmer and more flexible than trying to get through winter with one thick jacket: as the temperature changes, a layer comes off, not the whole garment.
The practical result in corporate buying: the same sweatshirt is worn on its own in September and under a jacket in January — it does not sit in the locker for most of the year.
Collar and Zip Details
There are two places where quality is lost in this product:
- Chin guard under the zip puller. When the zip is pulled all the way up, the metal puller touches the chin. A quality product has a fabric garage at the top end of the zip; without it, staff do not zip up fully and the garment's wind-blocking feature goes unused.
- Collar lining. If the inside of the stand collar is left with a raw seam, it irritates the neck. In corporate buying, having the inside of the collar covered prevents more complaints than fabric weight.
The rib at the cuffs and hem is what really keeps the warmth in; with a loose rib, there is no point zipping up.
Logo Application: Embroidered or Printed?
For the left-chest logo on this product we recommend embroidery. On brushed and fleece surfaces, small prints crack over time; embroidery is both permanent and supports a corporate look.
- Left chest — the standard position and the most common choice
- Sleeve — to distinguish departments or dealers
- Back — the company name for field teams; usually not chosen for customer-facing staff
For companies that want a printed sweatshirt, transfer / DTF printing can be applied to large areas such as a company name or event wording across the back. Embroidery is not placed too close to the zip line; the design distorts as the zip opens and closes. Our own design team sets the logo size and position and sends a digital mock-up for your approval before production. For a comparison of methods, see our logo printing and embroidery guide.
Wholesale Half-Zip Sweatshirt Prices
The price of a branded half-zip sweatshirt cannot be given from a single list; fabric construction (brushed or fleece), colour, embroidery size, number of logo positions and quantity are calculated together. The unit cost falls as quantity rises, because cutting and embroidery set-up is spread over more pieces.
Enter your quantity in the calculator on this page to see the average unit price from 100 pieces, and request a net price for your organisation with the "Request a quote for this product" button on the same screen. In bulk sweatshirt orders, colours and sizes can be split freely within the 100 pieces. The price structure is explained on our bulk logo workwear production from 100 pieces page.

Care
- Wash at 30–40 °C with the zip closed and inside out; an open zip snags the surface of other garments.
- Fabric softener reduces the fleece's insulation over time.
- Do not dry at high heat; the cuff and hem rib loosens.
- Do not iron directly over the embroidered area; iron from the reverse side at a low temperature.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does it differ from a standard sweatshirt?
The zip at the collar. Temperature can be adjusted without taking the garment off, and the stand collar protects the neck from the wind; that is why office-to-field staff wear it for longer.
Is it the same as a half-zip jumper?
No. A jumper is a knitted garment; this product is made from brushed sweatshirt fabric or micro fleece. The look is similar; corporate orders prefer sweatshirt fabric because it suits frequent washing and embroidery.
Is it enough on its own in winter?
It is enough in the mid-season. In winter it should be planned as a mid layer — a thermal base layer underneath and a gilet or waterproof outer layer on top.
Should we buy fleece or brushed sweatshirt?
Brushed sweatshirt for heated indoor areas and mild regions (it looks more corporate); micro fleece for cold stores, open ramps and winter sites.
Embroidery or print?
Embroidery for the left-chest logo. Transfer / DTF printing can be applied to large areas such as a company name across the back.
Which colours do you make?
Alongside the anthracite, black and navy models pictured, it is also made in your corporate colour.
Can we order mixed sizes?
Yes. In an order of 100, you decide the size breakdown.
What are your minimum order and lead time?
The minimum order is 100 pieces. The standard lead time is 15 working days after design approval; production takes place in our own facility in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul, with shipping within Türkiye and abroad.
