Product description

What Is the Mekap 157 (Jüpiter)?

Mekap's most sought-after model. A summer safety shoe with a suede upper and hook-and-loop fastening, made with a dual-density PU sole and a moisture-managing lining.

As one of the brands we are an authorised dealer for, we supply organisations in bulk from 100 pairs.

  • Mekap 157 — S1 steel toe cap · retail from TRY 941 · from TRY 710 per pair for 100 pairs
  • Mekap 157 — S1P steel toe cap + steel midsole · request a quote for retail and corporate prices
  • Mekap 157 — electrician's variant · for teams that need insulation; certification details are confirmed before ordering

Retail prices are indications based on market research and may change. The corporate price is confirmed according to quantity, variant and size breakdown.

Hook-and-Loop Fastening: Why Is It So Popular?

The main reason for the 157's popularity is that it uses hook-and-loop rather than laces. On site this has three concrete benefits:

  • Quick on and off. Saves time at the start and end of shifts, when moving into clean areas and during breaks. For teams who take their shoes off several times a day, the difference adds up.
  • No risk of laces catching. Near rotating machinery, conveyors and stairs, a trailing lace is a real hazard; hook-and-loop fastening removes this risk.
  • Usable with gloves on. Tying laces in thick work gloves is difficult; hook-and-loop can be adjusted without taking them off.

On the other hand, hook-and-loop does not give as precise a fit adjustment as laces. For staff with very narrow or very wide feet, a laced model fits better.

S1 or S1P?

  • S1 — toe protection (200 J) + antistatic + heel energy absorption + closed heel. No penetration resistance.
  • S1P — everything in S1 + penetration resistance (metal midsole, tested with a 4.5 mm nail).

The decision depends on the floor: if there is a risk of nails, wire, metal swarf or broken glass, choose S1P. On clean, level floors (assembly lines, packing, warehouse racking), S1 is enough and lighter.

On sites with a high risk of thin wire (recycling, scrap, demolition), look for a PS-coded non-metal midsole tested with a 3.0 mm thin nail instead of a metal midsole — this came with the 2022 revision of the standard, and most suppliers do not make the distinction.

The Limits of a Suede Upper

The 157 is a summer model, and a suede upper brings with it:

  • Advantage — light and breathable; feet sweat noticeably less in the heat.
  • Limit — suede absorbs water when wet and hardens as it dries. Wet floors need S2 or S3.
  • Limit — oil and chemical stains are permanent on suede.

If your team works in wet or oily environments, look at Mekap S2/S3 models instead of the 157.

Which Teams Is It For?

  • Assembly and production lines — dry floors, on their feet all day
  • Warehousing and packing — clean-area transitions where shoes are taken off often
  • Technical service — staff who enter customers' premises and put shoes on and off quickly
  • General summer use — seasonal, replacing the winter model

Sizing in Bulk Orders

  • Before ordering, we collect the team's shoe sizes through a form.
  • Size range 35–48; larger on request.
  • A hook-and-loop model has less volume tolerance than a laced one — for staff who are unsure, we recommend a sample pair.

Frequently Ordered Together

For other Mekap models, see our Mekap safety shoes page; for all brands, see the safety shoes, boots and wellingtons category.

Ordering and Care

Our minimum order is 100 pairs; genuine products, invoiced supply, shipping within Türkiye and abroad.

  • Do not use water or detergent on suede; use a suede brush and suede spray.
  • Do not dry wet suede next to a heat source; the upper hardens.
  • Dust and fibres building up on the hook-and-loop strip weaken its grip — clean it periodically.
  • Clear stones and gravel stuck in the sole profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the 157 and the 157 Jüpiter the same? Yes, Jüpiter is this model's trade name. It is the same product family.

Is there a white version? Yes, a white variant is supplied for food and healthcare teams.

Is there an anti-perforation version? Yes, the S1P variant includes a steel midsole. If there is a risk of nails and wire, it should be chosen.

What certification does the electrician's model carry? A separate variant is available for teams that need electrical insulation. Because the insulation class and certification vary by model, we confirm the certificate before ordering and share it in writing — we do not publish a general voltage figure.

Can it be used on a construction site? We do not recommend it. A suede summer construction is not suitable for mud and water; construction sites need S3.

What is your minimum order? 100 pairs.
