Gripper: The GPR Range from the Mekap Family

Gripper is one of Mekap's safety footwear brands; its models carry the GPR code and are also known on the market as "Mekap Gripper". We supply them as part of our Mekap dealership.

We supply organisations in bulk from 100 pairs, collect the size breakdown on your behalf and ship separately to multiple sites.

Retail prices are indications based on market research and may change. The same GPR code can be produced in different class variants (S1 / S1P) — before ordering we confirm the exact variant and share it in writing.

Two Standout Models in the Range

GPR-34 — HRO sole. The HRO marking shows that the outsole withstands 300 °C for 60 seconds without melting or cracking. It is needed for staff who come into contact with hot surfaces, such as asphalt laying, roofing membranes, foundry floors and around furnaces. A sole without HRO softens on a hot surface and loses its profile — the shoe loses both its slip resistance and its shape.

GPR-55 — Vibram sole. Vibram is the sole manufacturer's brand and is positioned in the upper segment for grip and wear life. Together with a microfibre upper and a composite toe cap, it is the lightest and metal-free option in the range — preferred for staff who pass through metal detectors.

GPR-153 (Amur): The Best Price-to-Class Ratio in the Range

In the same TRY 2,100 retail band, the GPR-155/181/182/183 are S1 while the GPR-153 Amur is S3. In other words, for the same money you get penetration resistance, water resistance and a cleated outsole.

If your team works in dry indoor areas, the S1 models are enough and lighter. If the floor is wet, muddy or carries a puncture risk, choose the Amur — there is no price difference.

Safety Classes

  • S1 — toe protection (200 J) + antistatic + heel energy absorption + closed heel
  • S1P — S1 + penetration resistance, metal midsole (P, tested with a 4.5 mm nail)
  • S1PL / S1PS — S1 + penetration resistance, non-metal midsole (PL tested with 4.5 mm, PS with a 3.0 mm nail)
  • S2 — S1 + water absorption resistance of the upper
  • S3 — S1P + water resistance + cleated outsole
  • HRO — outsole resistant to 300 °C for 60 seconds
  • SRC — the most comprehensive level of slip resistance; passes both the wet ceramic and oily steel tests

Sizing in Bulk Orders

  • Before ordering, we collect the team's shoe sizes through a form.
  • Size range 35–48; larger on request.
  • For staff who are unsure, we send a sample pair first.
  • Different GPR models can be planned as a mix in a single batch.

Frequently Ordered Together

One quote and one shipment with uniform pieces we produce at our own facility:

For the family's other ranges, see Mekap safety shoes; for hot work, Mekap welder's safety shoes; for all brands, the safety shoes, boots and wellingtons category.

Ordering and Care

Our minimum order is 100 pairs; genuine products, invoiced supply, shipping within Türkiye and abroad.

  • Do not machine wash leather or microfibre uppers; wipe with a damp cloth.
  • Take out the insole periodically to air it.
  • Clear stones and gravel stuck in the sole profile — they directly reduce SRC slip resistance.
  • On HRO-soled models, periodically check the sole for cracking and deformation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Gripper and Mekap the same thing? Gripper is one of Mekap's brands; its models carry the GPR code and are also known as "Mekap Gripper". We supply them as part of our Mekap dealership.

Why are there different classes of the same code? Some GPR models are produced in both S1 and S1P variants. Before ordering, we confirm which variant you want and come back after verifying the exact code in stock.

Do we need HRO? If your team comes into contact with hot surfaces (asphalt, foundry floors, roofing membranes, around furnaces), yes. If not, there is no need to pay for HRO.

We pass through metal detectors. The GPR-55 has a composite toe cap and contains no metal; it does not trigger the detector.

Can you supply a GPR model not listed here? Yes. Send us the model code and we will come back with current availability and price.

What is your minimum order? 100 pairs.
