Product description
Uvex: The Premium Segment and ESD
Uvex is a German safety brand. It is one of the most sought-after in Türkiye, and its price band is noticeably above Turkish manufacturers — TRY 3,180–6,500 at retail.
What justifies this price is often not comfort but ESD certification. Most of the Uvex models sold in Türkiye are ESD; they are supplied for electronics production, clean rooms and precision assembly lines.
We supply your corporate orders from 100 pairs, collect the size breakdown on your behalf and ship to multiple sites.

Antistatic ≠ ESD: The Difference Is Measurable
This is the most common mistake in buying safety shoes. The sentence "our shoes are antistatic" is not enough for an electronics production line, and the reason is not marketing but measurement:
- Antistatic (EN ISO 20345) — electrical resistance between 100 kΩ and 1,000 MΩ. A very wide range.
- ESD (EN IEC 61340-4-3) — electrical resistance between 0.1 and 100 MΩ. Noticeably narrower and tighter. (In the old version of the standard, the upper limit was 35 MΩ.)
In other words, every ESD shoe is also antistatic; but not every antistatic shoe is ESD. An S1 class shoe can show a resistance of 900 MΩ — it complies with the standard but is not accepted in an ESD area.
What they protect is also different:
- Antistatic protects the person — against shock and the risk of ignition caused by static discharge.
- ESD protects the product — against static on the person damaging a sensitive electronic component.
If your facility has a defined ESD area, look for the ESD marking on the shoe's label; the "antistatic" marking does not meet this requirement.
Is ESD Really Necessary?
Because the cost is high, this is the right question. The practical distinction:
ESD is needed: electronic board production and assembly, semiconductors, clean rooms, precision measurement laboratories, medical device production, anywhere with a defined ESD protected area (EPA).
ESD is not needed: general factories, warehouses, logistics, construction sites, technical service, food production. In these areas a standard antistatic S1/S1P/S3 is enough, and the cost difference you notice is a direct saving.
In mixed facilities, the most economical solution is to split the workforce: ESD shoes for staff entering the ESD area, standard for the rest. We work out this split together with you.
An ESD Shoe Has One More Requirement
An often-missed point: an ESD shoe alone is not enough. The resistance chain runs from the shoe to the floor and from there to earthing. An ESD shoe does not give the expected protection on a non-conductive floor (thickly varnished concrete, rubber matting).
Socks are also part of the chain — thick insulating socks raise the resistance. For an ESD area, the choice of socks should be specified too.
Safety Classes
- S1 — toe protection (200 J) + antistatic + heel energy absorption + closed heel
- S1P — S1 + penetration resistance, metal midsole (P, tested with a 4.5 mm nail)
- S1PL — S1 + penetration resistance, non-metal midsole
- S2 — S1 + water absorption resistance of the upper
- S3 — S1P + water resistance + cleated outsole
Sizing in Bulk Orders
The most common reason for returns in corporate footwear orders is the wrong size:
- Before ordering, we collect the team's shoe sizes through a form.
- For staff who are unsure, we send a sample pair first.
- A mixed size breakdown is covered in a single batch.
- With imported brands the last may differ from Turkish brands; a sample fitting matters more here.
Frequently Ordered Together
One quote and one shipment together with uniform pieces we produce at our own facility:
- Polo Work Shirt — with your company logo
- Cargo Work Trousers
- Crew-Neck Sweatshirt — for production line staff
- Thermal Socks
For more economical bands, see our Mekap, YDS and Bimes pages; for all options, see the safety shoes, boots and wellingtons category.
Ordering Process
- Needs discussion — team size, whether there is an ESD area, required safety class.
- Model recommendation — is ESD really needed, and for which staff; a price quote.
- Sample — a sample pair for a fit trial.
- Size collection — through a form.
- Supply — genuine products, invoiced.
- Shipping — within Türkiye and abroad, delivered to multiple sites.
Our minimum order is 100 pairs.
Care
- Do not machine wash leather models; wipe with a damp cloth.
- Do not replace the conductive insole in ESD models. An ordinary insole from the market breaks the resistance chain, and the shoe loses its ESD property.
- Clear stones and gravel stuck in the sole profile.
- If you use an ESD area, measure the shoes' resistance periodically; wear changes the resistance.
Frequently Asked Questions
We have antistatic shoes — can we use them in an ESD area? No. The antistatic range is 100 kΩ–1,000 MΩ, the ESD range 0.1–100 MΩ. An antistatic shoe can show resistance far above the ESD limit.
Does an ESD shoe work regardless of the floor? No. The resistance chain runs shoe–floor–earthing. On an insulating floor, an ESD shoe does not give the expected protection.
Why is Uvex so expensive? Most of the price comes from ESD certification and premium sole technology. If ESD is not needed, you can get the same protection from much more economical brands.
Can you supply an Uvex model not listed here? Yes. Send us the model code and we will come back with current availability and price.
What is your minimum order? 100 pairs.
Do you ship abroad? Yes, we ship within Türkiye and abroad.
