Product description

Uvex 8516: The Model That Combines ESD and S3

The most comprehensive of the Uvex models sought in Türkiye — and the most expensive. The reason is that it brings together, in one shoe, two features that are normally bought separately.

  • Uvex 8516 — S3 ESD SRC · retail TRY 6,500 · TRY 4,880 per pair for 100 pairs

What Does S3 Add?

Uvex's better-known 8543 and 8544 models are in classes S1 and S2. The 8516 adds two things on top of these:

  • Penetration resistance — the midsole stops nails and sharp objects underfoot from passing through the sole.
  • A cleated (profiled) outsole + water resistance — for muddy, wet and uneven ground.

In other words, the 8516 is the version that takes an indoor ESD shoe outdoors.

Who Needs Both at the Same Time?

Most teams do not, and if you do not need it there is no reason to pay this price. The places where it is genuinely needed are narrow and well defined:

  • Field and dispatch staff at electronics manufacturing plants — moving between the ESD area and an open ramp all day
  • Energy and renewable energy field service — transformers, inverters, solar fields; both sensitive electronics and outdoor ground
  • Telecoms and data centre field teams — sensitive in-cabinet hardware + outdoor access
  • Medical device and laboratory maintenance staff — moving between clean areas and technical areas

If your team stays indoors only, S1/S2 ESD (8543 / 8544) is enough and noticeably more economical. If they never enter an ESD area, you will find S3 from much more affordable brands — Mekap, YDS or Base.

In mixed facilities, the most economical solution is to split the workforce into three: ESD area only → 8543/8544; ESD + outdoors → 8516; neither ESD nor sensitive → an economical S3.

An ESD Reminder

Electrical resistance in the range 0.1–100 MΩ; noticeably narrower than the standard antistatic range (100 kΩ–1,000 MΩ). Every ESD shoe is antistatic, but not every antistatic shoe is ESD.

The shoe alone is not enough: the resistance chain continues shoe → floor → earthing. On an insulating floor an ESD shoe does not give the expected protection; thick insulating socks also raise the resistance.

SRC — the most comprehensive level of slip resistance; it passes both the wet ceramic tile and the oily steel floor tests.

Sizing in Bulk Orders

  • Before ordering, we collect the team's shoe sizes through a form.
  • An imported last may differ from locally made shoes; a sample fitting matters more here.
  • We plan different models (8516 + 8543 mixed) in a single batch.

Frequently Ordered Together

For other Uvex models, see Uvex safety shoes; for all brands, see the safety shoes, boots and wellingtons category.

Ordering and Care

Our minimum order is 100 pairs; genuine products, invoiced supply, shipping within Türkiye and abroad.

  • Do not replace the conductive insole — an ordinary insole breaks the resistance chain and the ESD property is lost.
  • Do not machine wash; remove mud first with a soft brush, then with a damp cloth.
  • Clear stones and gravel stuck in the sole profile.
  • If you use an ESD area, measure the shoes' resistance periodically; wear changes the resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the 8516 and the 8544? The 8544 is S2: it has ESD and water absorption resistance, but no penetration resistance and no cleated outsole. The 8516 is S3; it adds an anti-perforation midsole and a profiled sole. Teams who go outdoors need the 8516.

We only work indoors — do we need the 8516? No. Indoors, the 8543 or 8544 gives the same ESD protection at a noticeably lower cost.

We don't need ESD, only S3. Then there is no need to move up to Uvex's price band; you will find the same S3 protection much more affordably from Turkish brands.

What is your minimum order? 100 pairs.
