What Is a Hard Hat Liner?
A hard hat liner is a thin fleece cap that keeps the head and ears warm for staff who wear a hard hat outdoors in winter. Its difference from a normal beanie comes down to one word: thickness.
Mars Wear produces it at its own facility in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul, in your company colour and with your logo from a minimum of 100 pieces; standard delivery is 15 working days.
Why Shouldn't a Normal Beanie Go Under a Hard Hat?
This is a common mistake on site, and its consequences are invisible.
EN 397, the standard for industrial safety helmets, covers the hard hat itself — and one of the things it covers is the clearance between the head and the helmet shell. A hard hat protects against falling objects through the deformation of the shell on impact and the harness spreading the energy. That clearance is needed for this to work.
A thick beanie breaks two things at once:
- It narrows the clearance. On impact, the shell cannot find room to flex inwards; the energy is transferred directly to the head.
- It changes how the harness sits. The hard hat rides higher on the head, the point of balance shifts, and it is more likely to fall off when leaning forward.
That is why a cap worn under a hard hat must be thin. The cap we produce is made as a single layer of thin fleece with exactly this constraint in mind.
An important note: EN 397 is the standard for the hard hat; a hard hat liner does not carry this certification, and we do not claim that it does. The compatibility decision belongs to the instructions of the company that makes your hard hat — most manufacturers specify the type and thickness of product that may be worn underneath. If you tell us the hard hat model your team uses, we will decide together on a thickness that complies with those instructions.

Which Teams Is It For?
- Construction — all site teams for whom hard hats are mandatory in winter
- Road and infrastructure maintenance — outdoors, exposed to wind
- Energy and natural gas field teams
- Ports, warehouse ramps and outdoor logistics
- Factory yard and perimeter teams
For winter teams who do not wear hard hats, the beanie with logo is more suitable — it is normal thickness and warmer.
Complete the Head and Neck Layer
In winter, a large share of heat loss is from the head and neck. A hard hat liner alone does not protect the neck:
- Fleece Neck Warmer — a seamless tube that closes the collar gap
- Balaclava — face protection if the wind is strong and constant
- Corporate Scarf — for teams who do not wear hard hats
- Thermal Socks — cold toes lower performance as much as a cold head
For the upper layer, see the winter work jacket and the work jackets and gilets category.
Ordering and Care
Our minimum order is 100; produced in your company colour and with your logo, standard delivery 15 working days, shipping within Türkiye and abroad.
- Wash at 30 °C, inside out.
- Do not use fabric softener; it reduces the fleece's ability to trap air.
- Do not tumble dry; fleece shrinks and becomes thicker under the hard hat.
- When pilling starts, the cap gets thicker rather than thinner — replace it if the fit with the hard hat is affected.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a normal beanie be worn under a hard hat? We do not recommend it. A thick beanie narrows the hard hat's head clearance and changes how the harness sits; both reduce protective performance.
Is this product EN 397 certified? No, and we make no such claim. EN 397 is the standard for the hard hat itself. For a hard hat liner, what matters is your hard hat manufacturer's compatibility instructions.
What thickness do you produce? A single layer of thin fleece. If you tell us the hard hat model you use, we will confirm together a thickness that complies with the manufacturer's instructions.
Does it cover the ears? Yes, it is cut to cover the ears. The profile is kept slim so it does not clash with the harness.
Can a logo be applied? Yes, by embroidery or transfer print. Because the area is limited, we recommend a small embroidery.
What is your minimum order? 100 pieces.
