About Workwear Accessories

Mars Wear manufactures workwear accessories at its own production facility in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul, in your company colours and with your logo, from a minimum of 100 pieces; standard lead time is 15 working days.

ACCESSORIES ARE NOT BOUGHT ON THEIR OWN

The unit prices in this category are low, but ordered on their own the unit cost rises. Added to a uniform order, the cost comes down and, because the logo is applied by the same team, the colour shade matches exactly — scarves and beanies are where a shade difference is noticed first when they are seen next to the jacket.

That is why we recommend planning accessories together with the main order.

TWO SAFETY RULES

In this category two decisions are about safety, not comfort; both are often overlooked on site.

No scarves near machinery. The loose ends of a scarf can be caught by moving parts such as rotating shafts, conveyors, drills and lathes. That team gets a tubular fleece neck warmer with no hanging ends. Scarves belong to office, reception, shop and customer-facing staff.

No thick beanies under a safety helmet. EN 397, the standard for industrial safety helmets, governs the clearance between the head and the shell; the helmet protects by the shell flexing on impact and the harness spreading the energy. A thick beanie narrows that clearance and upsets how the harness sits. Teams who wear helmets need a thin single-layer fleece helmet liner.

WINTER LAYERING: WHERE IS HEAT LOST?

The right approach to choosing winter accessories is to close the points where heat escapes — a jacket alone does not solve this.

Head and ears — a beanie; for teams in helmets, a helmet liner. Neck and collar gap — a neck warmer; for office staff, a scarf. Face — a balaclava only where there is constant wind, wind from movement (couriers, open vehicles) or a freezer environment. Without one of these three, staff do not like working with their face covered. Hands — thermal gloves. EN 511 has three digits: convective cold, contact cold and waterproofness. For teams exposed to wind the first digit decides; for teams handling cold surfaces, the second. Feet — thermal socks. Cotton socks are no use in winter; they absorb and hold sweat, and wet fabric carries heat away fast. A thick sock that gets squeezed in the boot also reduces circulation and makes the foot colder.

SUMMER AND ALL YEAR ROUND

Caps — sun protection for field teams, promotion at trade fairs and events. Not enough on a food production line; there the hair must be fully covered. Belts and braces — a belt is enough if the pockets are light; braces if the pockets are always full. Braces move the load from the waist to the shoulders; most field teams use both. Knee pads — for teams who work kneeling. A Type 2 knee pad that slots into the trousers only works if the trousers have that pocket, and the pocket is built into the pattern from the start.

LOGO APPLICATION

On accessories the logo area is small and the surfaces differ: a cap is curved, beanies and scarves are knitted, fleece has a pile. The logo file used on a T-shirt does not look good on these surfaces. Our own design team prepares a separate version for each product; embroidery is generally preferred on knitted and curved surfaces, and a woven label for logos with fine detail.

Turn-up beanies have a special rule: because the logo is stitched onto the band that folds up, it is embroidered upside down in production so that it looks straight once folded. Approve the sample in its folded state.
