Composite Toe Caps: What Do They Give You?

On U-Power models the toe protection is composite, not steel. The protection threshold is the same — the standard requires 200 J impact resistance from both materials. The difference is not in the level of protection but in the conditions of use:

• Weight. A composite toe cap is lighter than steel. For teams who walk all day, the total load drops visibly.
• Thermal conductivity. A steel toe cap draws heat out in the cold; the toes get cold early. Composite insulates — a clear difference in cold stores and on winter sites.
• Metal detectors. A composite toe cap does not trigger detectors. A must at airports, security-controlled facilities and some production areas.
• Magnetic environments. Where people work with magnetic fields, a metal-free construction is needed.

On the other hand, a composite toe cap is usually bulkier than steel; the toe of the shoe looks slightly fuller. That is a matter of looks, not protection.

Slip Resistance: What Does SRC Mean?

Every U-Power model carries the SRC marking. Slip resistance is measured at three levels:

• SRA — tested on ceramic tile with soapy water
• SRB — tested on a steel floor with glycerol
• SRC — passes both the SRA and SRB tests

In other words, SRC is the most comprehensive level of slip resistance. If both wet ceramic (kitchens, food plants) and oily metal floor (production lines, workshops) risks are present, this is the marking to look for.

• Miami — S1P; a light construction, for teams who walk all day
• Texas, Arizona — S3; outdoors, wet and muddy ground, construction sites
• Yukon, Greenland, Quebec — S3 upper segment; heavy sites, long shifts, tough weather

Safety Classes

• S1 — toe protection (200 J) + antistatic + heel energy absorption + closed heel
• S1P — S1 + penetration resistance, metal midsole (P, tested with a 4.5 mm nail)
• S1PL / S1PS — S1 + penetration resistance, non-metal midsole (PL tested with 4.5 mm, PS with a 3.0 mm nail)
• S2 — S1 + water absorption resistance of the upper
• S3 — S1P + water resistance + cleated outsole

The 2022 revision of the standard split penetration resistance into P / PL / PS. On sites with a high risk of thin wire and nails, look for PS.

Sizing in Bulk Orders

The most common reason for returns in corporate footwear orders is the wrong size. Because an Italian last can differ from Turkish-made shoes, a sample fitting matters even more here:

• Before ordering, we collect the team's shoe sizes through a form.
• For staff who are unsure, we send a sample pair first.
• A mixed size breakdown is covered in a single batch.

Care

• Do not machine wash leather and textile-blend uppers; wipe with a damp cloth.
• Take out the insole periodically to air it.
• Clear stones and gravel stuck in the sole profile — they directly reduce SRC slip resistance.
• If a composite toe cap has taken an impact, the shoe should be replaced; composite is damaged by cracking rather than crushing like steel, and the damage may not be visible from the outside.
